Celeste Crowe called the meeting to order at 7:45 a.m. Board members were recognized. National members were recognized. New Members were also recognized.
Announcement was made for the SAAHP elections. The ballot consists of two at-large board seats, a NAAHP representative, a program chair and vice president, and a webmaster to be elected. One person from each institution was asked to pick up ballot and nominees were introduced. Motion to accept ballot as is was made by Marilyn Banta and Elizabeth McAllister seconded. Motion carried. Ballots were passed out and then collected.
Ross University presented a program detailing Ross University.
Celeste Crowe asked Ruth Bingham and Susan Maxwell to present NAAHP updates. Tesha White was introduced as the staffer that handled the SAAHP meeting responsibilities. SAAHP members were recognized that are on various boards and committees for NAAHP. Robby Bowen was honored as program chair for the New Orleans meeting. He was presented with a plaque. The 2017 national conference will be in Minneapolis, MN.
Celeste Crowe previously sent out minutes via e-mail from SAAHP business meeting at the NAAHP national meeting in San Francisco. Motion to accept minutes as written was made by Nancy Blass, Rhodes seconded, and motion carried unanimously.
Ken Crawford gave the SAAHP treasurer’s report. Currently in the SAAHP savings account-$46,000, and the SAAHP checking account-$61,800. Ken explained treasurer’s report that was passed out to participants. Ken asked for questions from the floor and there were none.
Celeste Crowe reported that the SAAHP website has been revised and updated and looks great!
Francisco Castelan, chair for the upcoming NAAHP national meeting in June 15-19, 2016, invited everyone to attend the meeting. He stated that the call for proposals will be forthcoming and he invited everyone to turn in a proposal. Robby Bowen and Francie Cuffney are the regional representatives.
The call for new business was made and there was no response for any new business. It was announced that there will be opportunities to serve on the new planning committee for the next meeting. Noted were thoughts for developing a new program for new advisors and a program for diversity in the South as a regional organization. The group was asked to check out the SAAHP website for additional opportunities.
